On January 11, 2025, the Friends cosponsored a concert featuring Yale's oldest all-female a cappella group, The New Blue of Yale.
This event was held in the Library Theater with more than 200 community members in the audience. The concert was followed by a reception in the Library Gallery with coffee and cake.
On September 27, 2022, we welcomed Fredrik Backman to discuss The Winners, the long-awaited conclusion to his bestselling Beartown series at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center. Katherine Whymark, President of the Friends, moderated the discussion.
This event was a fundraiser for the Friends, made possible with support from the Town of New Castle, The Chappaqua Library, and Scattered Books.
After the library's renovations were completed in 2021, the Friends provided $60,000 in new furniture and technology to enhance the renovated spaces. We also worked to make the library more inviting to visitors during the pandemic, funding the purchase of new outdoor tables and chairs as well as a tent for the courtyard, which allowed for outdoor programming during the summer months. We were honored to have these contributions highlighted in The Inside Press Magazine, which you can read here.
