Our Mission

The purpose of the organization is to encourage, receive, and administer gifts for the benefit of the Chappaqua Public Library. The Friends help to sponsor library programs such as workshops, author talks, and children's programs, as well as fund the purchase of furnishings, technology and DVDs and books for the library's collection.

Recent Projects

Museum Passes

In the spring of 2023, we recommitted to underwriting the library’s much-loved museum pass program, which will expand in 2024 to incorporate more outdoor and family-friendly sites, including Boscobel House and the Hammond Museum and Japanese Garden.

Music

This past summer, the Friends provided refreshments on Friday evenings for the library’s summer concert series. We also voted to fund an expansion to the library’s popular beginner ukulele series for adults, sponsoring instruction sessions and the purchase of additional ukuleles to meet the demand of our musical community!

Furniture & Technology

In September 2023, the Friends Board voted to fund new ergonomic rolling seating for the library’s computer stations and meeting rooms, and investing in new technology to support the continuation of hybrid/online library programming. In anticipation of a children’s room redesign to optimize their updated space, the Friends have committed $30,000 in funding for future furniture purchases in the Children’s Room.
